Calling all hikers, bikers, equestrians, and trail enthusiasts! Celebrate Earth Week at Lake Anna State Park by joining our Trail Survey Team. Volunteer Trail Surveyors will mark damaged signs, fallen trees, and other potential hazards on the Avenza free navigation app to help guide our maintenance projects for the upcoming season.

Volunteers will check in at the Visitor Center by 10:30AM. We will host a brief orientation on how to download and tag hazards in the Avenza app, then depart on our assigned trails by 11AM. Volunteers must return to the Visitor Center no later than 3PM to submit their data, but are welcome to return before then if they finish early.

Please bring enough water and snacks to keep yourself happy and hydrated for several hours of hiking. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes.

Hikers of all ages and experience levels are welcome. No pre-registration needed. Familiarity with the Avenza app is helpful but not required. FREE.

About Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Virginia State Parks offers a range of special events and activities highlighting the importance of conservation and sustainability. Visitors are invited to participate in educational programs, guided nature walks, wildlife observation, tree plantings and service projects to help preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the state’s 44 parks.
