Clean the Bay Day

Participate in the annual "Clean the Bay Day" initiative by helping park staff with a roadside cleanup effort on Saturday, May 2nd from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
"Clean the Bay" is sponsored by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in which volunteers from around the state help clean up trash affecting waterways and tributaries within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed of which Sailor's Creek Battlefield is a part.
Participants must register using the QR code on the attached promotional flier. Or call the Battlefield at 804-561-7510 to provide contact information to register.
The park will provide safety vests, gloves, and trash collection materials. Volunteers are advised to bring drinking water (we have a water bottle filling station on site), snacks, comfortable closed toe shoes, layered clothing, bug spray and sunscreen.
This is a weather dependent activity and will be cancelled if adverse weather conditions materialize.

About Clean the Bay Day
Each year Virginia State Parks participates in the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Clean the Bay Day, an event dedicated to protecting and preserving the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Park visitors are invited to join a clean-up to help remove litter, debris and pollution from rivers, streams and shorelines that feed into the Bay, contributing to the health of the Bay’s ecosystem and ensuring cleaner water and safer habitats for wildlife.
