Walk in the footsteps of moonshiners from decades gone by. Visit the remains of two historic moonshine stills as we explore the fascinating (and sometimes tragic) history of local moonshining activities. Guests will meet an interpretive ranger at the Visitor Center, then drive to the hike location.
This hike involves steep, uneven terrain and can be difficult at times. We do not recommend bringing small children. High-top shoes, long pants, insect repellent, and a walking stick are advised.
About Virginia State Parks History and Culture Day
On June 15, 1936, Virginia became the first state to open an entire park system of six parks on the same day.
