Where

Program Location: Shelter 1 (near playground)
Main Park Address: Powhatan State Park, 4616 Powhatan State Park Rd., Powhatan, VA 23139.

When

May 1, 2026. 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Foraging can foster a special connection with the surrounding community of plants, fungi, and fellow humans. Join a ranger on a walk and discussion as we search for edible delights in the field or the forest. You'll become acquainted with the bounty that nature offers us, learn how to identify certain edible plants, and practice foraging with respect and gratitude.

What to expect:
Please bring water and wear comfortable walking shoes. The walk will be up to 1 mile on a mostly flat trail. Friendly dogs are welcome and must be on a 6-foot leash. This route can be accessed by strollers as well as the park's all-terrain wheelchair, which can be reserved 48 hours in advance using this online form.

While registration is not required for this program, it is recommended! If you register, we will be able to contact you if the program is cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
