Salamanders are on the move at Fairy Stone State Park! Join a ranger for an up-close adventure as you learn all about these elusive amphibians and the important role they play in our forest ecosystem. Participants will discover fun facts about salamander behavior, habitat, and adaptations before exploring a .25 mile stretch of Hale Creek to try spotting them in the wild.

With guidance, you’ll practice safe and responsible capture techniques and learn how to identify several local species. Whether you’re a seasoned nature lover or a curious first-timer, this hands-on program offers a memorable chance to meet some of the park’s most secretive residents.

Perfect for families, budding biologists, and anyone who doesn’t mind getting a little muddy.

Please remember to wear boots or water shoes. You will also need a headlamp or flashlight.
