Have you ever been scared to go out in the wilderness by yourself or just with a friend? Join an interpreter to learn how to stay safe in the wilderness and learn a useful skill, such as knot tying or fire building.

Join our rangers and find a spot around the campfire as we make and enjoy one of Summer’s most iconic treats.

What are the makings of a perfect s'more?

Bring your family and friends and join a park ranger for a campfire on the water’s edge at the beach amphitheater.

Create your own dream catchers out of natural items found in the park as you learn their history and significance.

Can not seem to get your campfire lit?

Join us to hear about the impacts of fire; from the habitats it touches to how humans have learned to use it to our advantage throughout the ages.

Join your fellow campers to hear about all of the different trails and activities the park has to offer and discover the history of the park and the wild ponies. This is a great chance to ask questions about the park, local activities in the area, and future events at Grayson Highlands.

Tonight's campfire will feature free s'mores and as well as a discussion of edible plants with a focus on native teas.

Come out and join us for three fun activities all Saturday evening. Staring with "Skins and Bones", where you'll get up close and personal with the some of the mammals that live in the park. Participants can touch pelts and bones and at the same time discover how they are adapted to various habitats of Virginia.
