Get Into the Weeds: Invasive Plants 101
Get into the weeds at Invasive Plants 101, a training day hosted by the Virginia Natural Heritage Program and Department of Forestry. Spend the morning learning the impacts of invasive species, how to identify them, manage them, and more from professional invasive species staff from both agencies. Then, enjoy a provided lunch. After lunch, venture outside for a plant identification hike (rain or shine, ~ 2 miles total, variable terrain from flat to steep sections) and learn a variety of integrated pest management techniques such as herbicide application, mechanical removal, and manual removal in a hands-on activity. This event is tailored to residents of Southwest Virginia. Stay tuned for similar trainings in other regions of the state!
