You are invited to Living with Water: The Future of Flood Insurance in Virginia, a roundtable discussion hosted by FEMA Region III, VA Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, and the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC), on Tuesday, December 4th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the HRPDC – 723 Woodlake Dr., Chesapeake, VA.
Living with Water will engage stakeholders from various agencies and industries in a guided conversation about working together to increase flood insurance coverage in Virginia. The event will include a roundtable discussion between representatives from federal, state and local government, banking, real estate and the insurance industries. The morning panel discussions will be followed by afternoon small-group breakout sessions and a report out.
Registrants are free to check out lunch options in the area or bring your lunch and network.
Geared towards industry professionals, this day-long event will be followed with an evening public Open House from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., where property-owners, residents and business owners will receive information and materials to learn more about flood risk and actions they can take to protect themselves and their families. FEMA, state, and regional agency representatives will host informational tables and answer questions at the evening event.
The roundtable event has been pre-approved for 4.5 CECs for CFMs by ASFPM.
Space is limited for both events, so please register soon.
