Description:
The SDE Tool was developed by FEMA to assist state and local officials in estimating building value and damage costs for single-family homes, manufactured homes, and non-residential structures. The tool is based on regulatory requirements of the NFIP for determining substantial damage and allows users without real estate, appraiser, or construction experience to develop reasonable and defensible estimates of structure value and damage estimates.
This training is being provided to enhance recovery strategies in communities that experienced flooding during Hurricane Florence. VA DCR will provide information about substantial damages, and how to use the SDE Tool to identify and record post-disaster damage data.
