Description:
Wetlands play critical roles in supporting floodplain function, from their ability to reduce flood related impacts to their ability to remove nutrient pollution and provide habitat for wildlife. This webinar will open with a general introduction to the role that wetlands play in floodplains in different settings, and some of the various nature-based solutions and policy tools available to support them. We will then look more closely at two examples in the Mississippi River floodplain, Nahant Marsh in Davenport, IA and Dogtooth Bend in Alexander county Illinois, and how wetland management is supporting floodplain function and planning.
