This course is designed to provide participants an overview of the regulatory environment and best practices for residential coastal construction contained in FEMA’s Coastal Construction Manual (FEMA P-55, 4th Edition). The course and publication provide a comprehensive approach to planning, siting, designing, constructing, and maintaining residential buildings in the coastal environment. Applying what is learned during this course will increase the resistance of residential buildings to the harsh coastal environment and reduce losses associated with natural disasters.

Target Audience:
Local officials responsible for administering their local floodplain management ordinance in coastal communities will be given priority, but others are welcome to participate including zoning officials, elected leaders, surveyors, and engineers from non-coastal communities.
