In coordination with our state partners, FEMA Region 3 is supporting a virtual Advanced Floodplain Management course. Topics include the role of a floodplain manager, floodplain regulations and violations, flood insurance, substantial damage/substantial improvement requirements, and the development of flood insurance studies.
Each virtual session will be one full day, each Tuesday in April. Students are encouraged to attend all four (4) sessions as the information from the courses will build upon the prior week's content.
This series will not provide credit from the Emergency Management Institute (EMI), but it will provide applicable Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) Certifications. All qualified CFMs may receive up to 6 hours for each Full Tuesday session attended. The Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) is limiting CECs to a max of 12 hours for the entire Training Series. Despite this limitation, FEMA Region 3 and State Partners encourage students to attend all sessions.
