Fall Foliage Report for Virginia State Parks
Welcome to our fall foliage report for 2024.
November 7, 2024
Peak fall foliage has passed in most Virginia State Parks, leaving behind a muted, but still beautiful, landscape. In the mountain, central and northern regions, many trees have already shed their leaves, blanketing trails and giving the forests a cozy, late-autumn feel. However, some parks, particularly in the coastal region, are hitting their peak colors right now, with vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows brightening the shoreline and wetlands. Whether you're seeking the fading warmth of mountain landscapes or the fresh burst of coastal colors, Virginia’s state parks are offering a range of unforgettable autumn scenery right now.
Thanks to our commonwealth’s varying elevations from mountains to shore, we have a long fall foliage season, starting earliest in the higher elevations and moving eastward.
This fall season, find new ways to connect with nature and get outdoors for some fresh air. Whatever adventure you decide on, be sure to share your Virginia State Park photos on social media by using the hashtag #VaStateParks and #FallinVirginia to be part of the online conversation.
