Ag Schools There are two nutrient management training schools. The Soil Science, Soil Fertility, Crop Production School is a lecture series by Virginia Tech professors and DCR staff members. Based on the topics covered, it could be characterized as a mini-agronomy class. The Nutrient Management Plan Writing School deals with writing nutrient management plans using Virginia’s criteria. This is a hands-on session in which participants complete exercises using farm case-study information to write the various components of a nutrient management plan. Both schools are fast-paced; some agricultural background will help participants better understand the material. No pre-requisites, however, are required. Participants may choose to attend either or both schools depending on their mastery of the material presented.
Space is limited; registration is first-come, first-served. Registration form with payment must be received by November 27, 2018 to avoid $20 late fee per session. All fees and registration must be received before the first day of the training school. Fees are nonrefundable. For more registration information, contact Susan Jones at (804) 443-3803, email susan.jones@dcr.virginia.gov.
